50!

I turned 50 … the big half-century mark … wow!
Out of curiosity, while composing this blog, I scrolled through the various fonts to see what “50!” looked like. The font in the jpeg image above is Times New Roman.
As a writer, I like the appropriate Wingdings version of a filing cabinet, paper folder, and pencil:

We celebrated two days before my birthday by seeing Henry Rollins on stage, during his Travel Slideshow tour:

We’re both fans of Henry Rollins and, as a photographer; it was great to see his photographic work while listening to his travelogue.

We spent my birthday up in the mountains. It wasn’t too cold and we enjoyed the drive, the day out, and the spectacular views. Some of the landscape and cloud photographs I took will be adapted for greeting cards.

I was also gifted with two brilliant movies for our collection: Wind River, and Dunkirk, both released in 2017:

My beautiful wife made my birthday special. I thank God every day for her love and friendship and I am blessed to have her as a companion on this journey through life.
However … I am aware that if I leave my socks on the bedroom floor and neglect to dump them in the laundry basket … I can expect this:

Slipped Masks … project update:

Work on the second draft is advancing faster than I thought and the story is developing well.
I am now revising chapter 11.
Word count: 57,391.
More to come.

Goya and The Shining link:

In the front of Stephen King’s source novel, The Shining, there is the quote:

The sleep of reason breeds monsters.
– GOYA.

This is a reference to the 1799 etching by Francisco Goya:

The pose of the man in the etching is eerily like Jack Nicholson in Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 movie adaptation:

Coincidence … or an intentional reference?
