Andrea Barrett, on writing:

I've never known a writer who didn't feel ill at ease in the world.
We all feel unhoused in some sense.
That's part of why we write.
We feel we don't fit in, that this world is not our world, that though we may move in it, were not of it.
You don't need to write a novel if you feel at home in the world.

Slipped Masks … project update:

Received the proof copy of my thriller novel: Slipped Masks.
Working through some final adjustments and then the book will be available.
My wife has already read the book in manuscript form. She’s observed all the way through this creative process: from discussions of ideas, research, sources of inspiration, hand-scribbled notes, earlier drafts … right through to completion. It was a sweet moment to see her smile and the delight in her eyes, as I placed the paperback version in her hand.
Can’t wait to get to work on the first book of my detective novel series, entitled: The Breaker.
More to come.
When published, a percentage from sales will be donated to Multiple Sclerosis research.
